It’s pretty simple really. We used to play once in a while but the games were far and few in between. So in 2016 Wendy Hord threw a 50th birthday party for Tony and made it a poker party. She invited all his friends, cooked some great food and a great time was had.

As you can see, there are a few core players at this early RPC game.

So as you can imagine, an idea was born.

Nate and I started thinking…

What if we made a website that had all the games scheduled for the year? What if we made it more of a social club than strictly poker? How about a different host each month? And maybe a trophy and cash prize to the player with the most points? What if we called ourselves the Redding Poker Club and we got t-shirts and everything?

So we did it! ReddingPokerClub.com was born and good friends were invited.

The Redding Poker Club was established and the first game was played March 4th, 2017. We don’t have many pics of that game. I guess we were all about playing cards!

Here’s the final table of our 2nd game. We started this club with one of the biggest showdowns the club would ever see. As you can see, everyone was floored.

Jody went all-in on his full house of 9’s over 2’s, as he should! But as you can see, Chris ended up with 4 2’s! But nothing could top the straight flush Josh had! That was a great game!

Scott Voorhees was our first Champ. We’ve had 6 more since then. Who will it be this year?

We’ve put a lot of heart and soul into the club. We’ve played 95 games and are in our 8th year. We’ve had 3 t-shirt runs and are expecting our 4th any day now. Players have collectively taken home over $85,000 and a few pounds were gained from all the good food. We’ve still got the original players from the start and made some new ones along the way.

We’re glad to be playing every month and plan to do so for many more years. Long live the RPC!
